Travel Tips
There are beautiful spots in Texas that stay green pretty much year round. If you go up around the hill country (San Antonio - Austin area) you will see some of the most beautiful country in Texas.

Although many people envision desert country with adobe buildings, saguaro cactus and barren dry dust - that is just not Texas. At least not all of it! =) Texas is very large and has many different landscapes. In fact "Texas is so large that El Paso, in the western corner of the state, is 180 miles closer to California than it is to Houston in the east." (http://www.photohouston.com/texas-landsc... )

Right up through the center of Texas you find the hill country - green and rolling (mostly). West Texas has mountains and deserts with greenery appearing where oasis' are found. East Texas has pine forests.

The Gulf Coast from Louisiana all the way down to Mexico is some of the most lovely and wildlife-rich coastline in the states. The area I live in is visited by people from all over the world who come to see the amazing variety of birds who live or winter here. We have sea turtle preserves as well as bird and other wildlife sanctuaries. Dolphins swim just off the coast and are often seen when you ride the ferries or just go swimming at one of the many beaches.

Gee, can you tell I love it?

The link is to some pictures - hope I answered your questions!

JenThe hill country around Austin stays nice and East Texas, along the Louisiana border stays pretty green
Houston gets very hot and humid and rains a lot in the summer.
Yup, East Texas stays green 'cuz of the pine trees. Everything else, well, yeah...pretty much turns yellow. Oh...the Valley, but they do a lotta farming, so it hasta stay green.
East Texas, especially Houston and North to the Marshall area, have a lot of green all year. It's the Piney Woods area. We have lots of deciduous trees, oaks, ironwoods, maples, etc. and evergreens like hollys, pines and magnolias. Some of the grass turns brown, some stays green all year, it depends on the variety. Many people seed their lawns that turn brown with annual winter rye. It comes up and stays a beautiful Kelly green. Also, other things here do not turn brown with the frost or freeze. Honeysuckle and many hedge type plants stay green year round. So, no, it's never all parched and yellow.
Why are you so anti-gay?
