Planing on moving to Fort Worth Texas. Is it a good city? pros and cons? |
Travel Info I'm planing on moving to Fort Worth, right now I'm in Miami Florida, please advice, how do you thing this city is, and/or good nearby cities to live. thank you Travel Tips Ft. Worth is a very friendly city with lots of beautiful neighborhoods. It's where "West Texas" begins so the people are a lot more open and welcoming than Dallas. The city is outstanding for its visual arts. There are also good performing arts of all kinds. Theater and professional sports are better in Dallas, but that's only a 45 minute drive away. I think many people in Dallas are snooty about Ft. Worth. I think you will find it a little bit provincial after Miami, but certainly more laid back. I don't think crime is any worse than any other place. I cannot speak to the school system. You will appreciate the drier heat and having SOMEWHAT of a winter. Ft. Worth actually gets more snow and ice than Dallas does (that West Tx. vs. East Tx. thing). Others I would first ask what are you moving to Ft. Worth for? If it's college and you are going to TCU, then I would definetely live in Ft. Worth... Now, if it's for work, then I would definetely live in another city...in all honesty, Ft. Worth is much more of a rural area when compared to metropolitan Dallas... As far as pros and cons are concerned, the pros include the Ft. Worth stockyards (alot of steakhouses) and the cons include a high crime rate, especially the downtown... Hope this helps...best of luck to you... Gangs are bad in Ft. Worth cost of living is not bad. As with any large metro areas-there are good areas and bad areas.I love the Dallas/Ft Worth area because there is so much to do.The traffic sucks but so does the traffic in Miami! Fort Worth all-in-all is a good place to live, it does have gangs and drugs just like any other big city does. Pros, downtown is fun, has things to do all the time, stockyards are fun, Dallas is close but not TOO close, Arlington is nice I grew up there. Cons, uuuummmm... has some bad pockets?! Go a little west to Weatherford. Great schools, small town feel, close to Fort Worth. If you have to be in F.W. contact a Realtor and ask them about safer areas. F.W. has done a great job with the down town area. We ate at Daddy Jacks on Friday night and saw lots of police and private security on bikes. Felt very comfortable. I live in Ft. Worth and don't really like it. I suggest you move to a suburb Hurst, Euless, Bedford, Keller, Grapevine, Colleyville, Mansfield, Azle, Weatherford, Saginaw, Burleson, Joshua, Crowley, Benbrook, Blue Mound, are all good. Ft. Worth trash service sucks. They make you rent a trash can and it has to be completely closed or they won't pick it up. The city also won't respond to a call for a robbery in your house via alarm company unless you pay a $100.00 certificate fee. And once i called 911 b/c I saw a wreck and I got a recording that said "Thank you for calling FW 911, if you have an emergency please hold" for 7 minutes. I eventually hung up and no one called me back! You don't have to worry about guns, drugs, or gangs if you're in the right areas. FW is "the safest big city in the us" supposedly. I also think the roads suck compared to the sububs. Downtown is fun though and has a lot to offer. I perfer FW over Dallas any day! I've lived in Arlington all my life until about 3 years ago. That's not a good pick now b/c the new Texas stadium is being built there. If you need more info, let me know! |
