Moving to Fort Worth Grapevine TX area? |
Travel Info My wife and I live near San Antonio, Texas. We plan to move either to Grapevine or Fort Worth, Texas in a couple of months. She's a medical receptionist and I work in an office or proofreading. Which city or other nearby city would you folks recommend. We know there's a lot to do up there, and we would like a low crime, safe environment. Thank you. Travel Tips I just left Flower Mound, across the lake from Grapevine and moved to San Antonio. Flower Mound is great if you can afford it. Very good schools, very low crime etc. The city is really growing but they are doing it in stages so that the roads can keep up. It can be a little "snobby", but most of the people are terrific. Fort Worth has great housing prices but I personally would not live there. Grapevine is great. I'd call it a "big" small town. Check out Southlake too. I would stay in the Flower Mound, Grapevine, Southlake area. It's easy to get in an out of these cities. They are small but yet have tons of restaurants, shopping etc. Others I like Fort Worth, but Grapevine is nice as well, I think is depends on what you and your wife are interested in. although both cities are relatively close if you like downtown action driving in from Grapevine on a regular basis would be annoying. Arlington is also a good alternative, BUT Dallas Cowboys stadium IS about to be built there so traffic there will probably be horrible in a couple of years, with Ameriquest Field there (Texas Rangers) and then the Cowboys there, not to mention 6 Flags of TX and Hurricane Harbor. But all that is all on one side of the city. If you have kids and are looking for good school zones, Mansfield is good, Southlake is good, also a nice place to live swanky. I have probably gone above what you have asked but o-well, Hope any of this helps I grew up in Arlington and I love it. Traffic gets bad on Cooper (especially near I-20) but it's usually tolerable. We have everything here. Good schools, shopping, parks, etc. Most of the city is safe, and I read in the paper today that crime dropped in 2006. If you have any specific questions about the city, feel free to ask me. I would choose Flower Mound. It's a wonderful place to live. My husband and I have moved 7 times in the past 11 years, Atl, Indy, Charlotte, Baltimore...and I would choose Flower Mound as my most favorite place. The kids play outside and the parents stand around and catch up. We have block parties, progressive dinners, etc. The churches are great. The schools are nice too. You're also within arm's reach of the airport when you need to travel. If I had a million dollars, I'd buy a nice ranch and live here for the rest of my life. Flower Mound has been voted as one of the top places to live by Business Week and Money Magazine. You should check out some of the stats online. What is there to say about Grapevine?....... Well, they have a really good mall. Thats about all that really struck out to me while I was there. There are also alot of people that are saying that flowermound is nice. But I was actually just there yesterday and the school is really big and nice but you have to have a very well paying job if you want to live there. All the neighborhoods there were very high dollar. I live about 15-30mins outside of Abilene. It's about 2 hrs from Fort Worth. Abilene is pretty lame so I don't advise moving there. Irving is right near Flowermound and it is alright. |
