Travel Info Hey I don't know why people think its so cheap to live in dallas just look at the rent? Travel Tips rent for me is good. i live two-bedroom apt $742/month. No complaints here :o) Others i live in Hawai'i and i share your sentiment. someone just posted a question about finding a rental for less than $1,000 in Hawai'i (any island) and all i could do was reply in sarcasm and refer him to the classified ads in our daily newspapers for a reality check. The middle class is screwed. Most people here in Hawai'i are working 2 to 3 jobs just to make ends meet. When will the greed end? It's no wonder our young people have so many problems. No one is home to raise them... and they are at the mercy of so many bad influences... Compared to other cities, Dallas is cheap! It's not at cheap as a bodunk town in Alabama perhaps, but for a major city it's extremely affordable. My boyfriend is in New York right now and his hotel costs $320 a WEEK. Also, check out the lease prices in other cities. A one bedroom will cost over $1000 in many cities. In Dallas you can find a one bedroom for $450/month. The purchase prices are outrageously cheap. Some areas in Dallas (Garland, Richardson, DeSoto, etc) you can buy a 3 bedroom home for under $100,000. I'm sure there are some cities that may be cheaper, but for the average salary a person makes in Dallas, and compared to other major metropolitan areas, Dallas' economy is great. I lived here for 5 years. It is almost cheaper to rent a house in Dallas Areas than it is to rent an apartment..if you are looking for a bigger place...go look for homes for rent...there are many investors that bought homes in TX and they are now sitting empty...and they would gladly have someone rent it out...all these homes for the most part are new, since this was a booming New Home Market a few years ago.. But you can get a nice 1000-1200 sqft home for 800-1000 a month...Brand New.. I live in almost 2000 Sqft home for 1000 a month...Brand New. I rented a 900 sqft apartment for 900 a month!!!! You don't have to live right in Dallas..Areas to consider are McKinney,Little Elm, Frisco,Aubrey (has a ton of rentals) Allen, Melissa, Denton...(main thing is easy access to a major highway) It really depends on where you are looking. Most people from California and Florida look at this state as a great bargain in real estate they are purchasing, and they are right. Houses cost 1/4 of what they do in these states. Renting always depends on where you are looking and the amenities at the complex. Compared to where? LA cost 3 times rent, so does bay area so does NYC. Houses in dallas cost 1/5 of some places in USA. U must be from rural mississippi or something. |
