Why Texas is called the state of the lonely star? |
Travel Info Maybe because of the Lone Ranger? i don't think texans feels so lonely. somebody can tell me? Travel Tips It's the Lone Star State, not Lonely Star. Lone means one, single, by itself while lonely is the feeling of being isolated, friendless. We are definitely not lonely! It's so named because our state flag has one big proud star on it. It has nothing to do with the fact we were once an independent country or that our flag can fly at equal height with the US flag. Source(s): I'm a proud Texan! Other Travel Tips it's called "the lone star state" because the texas flag only has one star on it It is the Lone star state. The pollution is so bad that in Texas you can only see one star at night. Thus "lone star state". Texas is the only state that was at one time an independant state hence the one star on the flag. It is also the only flag that can fly at the same height as the American flag. Well, you got it almost right. Texas is the "Lone Star State." It is called that because of the single ("lone") star on the state flag; it's also a reference to the independent nature of Texans, particularly early in their history.
