Is there a lot of trees in Texas?

Travel Tips
Depends on where you go. I live in East Texas and I am surrounded by Davy Crockett National Forest, in other words, lots and lots of PINE as well as other kinds of trees. Forestry is really big here.

There is TX hill country (Austin area, central Texas) where you see different varieties of trees.

In West Texas there is more desert climates, so not so many but there are pockets of desert plantlife. In McKittrick Canyon, just outside of Guadalupe Mountains Park (Midland-Odessa area) in fall, the Texas Madrone trees are almost the prettiest I have ever seen...also in West there are gnarled up old mequite.

There are a lot of different ecosystems in Texas, with different land forms, weather, etc. So yes, in places, there are a LOT of trees, and a large variety here. In other places, not so much.

NE Texas yes and west Texas nota.
Texas is huge. Yes there are a lot of trees. East Texas is known as the "Thicket"; pine trees so dense you can hardly walk through them. The Hill Country is blanketed with trees. South/East Texas has Huge Oak trees, some as old as 700 to 800 years. Deep South, West Texas and North/West Texas has few large trees. The Mesquite trees grow in these areas and usually don't grow larger than 10' tall. Texas has desert (hign and low), beaches, mountains, hill country, plains, coastal regions. Hotter than Hell in the South and Colder than a well diggers *** in the North. We even have "Tursquitos". A cross of wild trurkey and a mosquito (mosquitos are large--bad news for the turkeys)lol

In the eastern third there are plenty. As you go west they get fewer and more scraggly. Texarkana, Lufkin and Nacadoches are full of trees.
There are in East Texas, it is almost tropical.
