Is Fort Worth/Arlington, TX a good place to live?

Travel Info
We are a young family interested in relocating to Texas. My wife and I are RN's and we have heard good things about the hospitals in DFW...any thoughts? Thanks.

Travel Tips
I think the DFW area is a good place for a young family. The cost of living is very reasonable and the layout of the city makes the different areas easily accessable. Check out the Baylor Health Care System. They provide care to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and its surrounding areas through eight hospitals, four specialty hospitals, and other care locations. You can even do a job search online to see if there are any jobs that are of interest prior to making the big move. http://www.bhcs.com/careers/applyonline....

If you decide to make the move, I would suggest moving close to highway 121 (near the dfw airport) this ensures you are close to Dallas and Fort Worth. Bedford and Euless are right in the middle of the two cities and you are near highway 635, 121, 183, 360, 35 and 75.

Before moving consider the cost of living and job opportunites. Overall, I think the DFW area is a great place to live. Low crime, Higher than average pay rates, Good school systems, Low cost of living and a good overall quality of life. (and I'm not from here) Lots to keep you busy also, theme parks, resturants, movie theaters and tons of malls. (I wouldn't suggest Arlington b/c of the traffic problems (every day) on highway 360.

I sure hope this helps. (hope I didn't talk your ear off) Source(s): http://www.bhcs.com/careers/applyonline....

Other Travel Tips
I lived in Lawton OK for 8 years (close to where u are going) and i didnt mind it, its real dry though and there are smokin bans all across those states due to the dry grass.
Other then that you would be close to SixFlags over Dallas lol
Oklahoma
Lots of good hospitals in the DFW area. However it is very crowded there. Dallas and Ft Worth are about 20 miles apart but have since merged into one giant metroplex thanks to Arlington, Irvine and a dozen other small towns. If you go I hope you like big cities and lots of traffic.
You may want to consider San Antonio. It's big also but does have a large medical community. Most of the hospitals are on the Northwest side in what's known as The South Texas Medical Center. San Antonio is a big city too, (not like DFW), but the cost of living is a lot lower. Consider everything before moving.
Fort Worth has some pretty damn good hospitals for sure. If you work there, I'd live in Benbrook, as that is the very edge of "metropolitan" Fort Worth. Arlington has a few hospitals, but it is large in size without the skyscrapers and such. That's the only thing I hate about living here--you have to go far to get away from the crowd.

And if you're into some oppressively hot summers and mild winters, it's for you! But what I like about our "climate" is just as I get tired of the heat, it cools off and just when I get tired of the cold, it warms up. Course, we just had flurries this morning and they remain in the area. It's only snowed twice in April since they've been keeping weather records here. We had quite a bit of wintry weather here this year; we got snow before my relatives in Pennsylvania did! Some say we don't have 4 seasons, but I disagree. However, severe weather season is tough. I HATE tornadoes. Been here for almost 11 years now and have had to dodge more than I ever cared to.
