What's the best place to have fun in Dallas/Fort-Worth area? |
Travel Info can someone give me a list of good restaurants, nice places, and some good schools for kindergarten, grade school, high school, and college? and where can i find a nice home in the area? Travel Tips Well it depends... The Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex has a population of roughly 5,000,000 people. Most of which will tell you that the the best place to have some fun is in Arlington where you will find the home of the Texas Rangers, Six Flags, and the up and coming Cowboys Statium. I can tell you now that Aledo, TX (20 mi. to the west of Ft. Worth) has some of the best schools in the state. If you are looking for good private schools I would recomend, Country Day or Trinity Valley for Fort Worth and Greenhill or St. Marks for Dallas. There are many other private school to choose from in the area. Furthmore, you will find some nice homes in that area with some acreage and reasonably priced for what you get. The only issue is that you will have to pay a steep gas bill in order to get to Ft. Worth or Dallas. Some of the nicest homes in the area are found in Dallas (1,000,000 people in population) in the Highland Park Village in North Dallas. However, one will find nice houses in many places in the metroplex. Plano and Addison are some of the United States' fastest growing towns. Good colleges in the area are Texas Christian University, Southern Methodist University, University of North Texas, and The University of Texas at Arlington. If you would like to live in a more progressive yet liberal city, then you may want to live in Dallas. Fort Worth (550,000 in population) is a little more layed back and slightly more conservative (and much, much, much less traffic.) You must know that on a good day one can get from downtown Fort Worth to downtown Dallas in 40 min. On a heavy traffic day, it may take as much as 1.5 hrs. That is a common misconception when people move to Dallas/ Fort Worth. Most people stay in the town in which they are living for bussiness and living needs. As for restaurants, one of the best in the area is Del Friscos of Fort Worth, but my knowledge does not extend to very many Dallas restaurants (but you must think about the drive again.) Some things you will have to cope with is the weather, many times in December you will find a Tornado Watch and a Winter Storm Watch existing at the same time. Tornodos can be a hazard in the area and I highly recomend buying a NOAA Weather Radio at the local Radio Shack (which is headquarted in Fort Worth!) You will also have to get used to the subtle Texan dialect and you must go buy a closet full of jeans in order to fit in. :>) The biggest thing you need to know is that Fort Worth and Dallas are some of the most dynamic and overall very intersting cities in Texas and I would contend in the United States. Good luck and I hope this helps. In order to find more about individual towns I would look at map at google.com/maps then check the towns at wikipedia.org Source(s): Living here all of my life www.google.com/maps wikipedia.org Other Travel Tips Addison is a good area for restaurants. Plano is a nice area to live and has good schools. A little expensive though. It depends on how much you want to spend and where you work. (DFW is spread over 12 counties, and we have near LA traffic volume). Homes range from $100,000 to multi-millions, commutes range from 15 minutes to 3 hours, and school districts range from awful to top 10. Maybe you can modify your question to say where your job will be, whether you are willing to commute, and how much you want to spend on a house. the strip club of course they'll run away after they see what you look like! |
