Anyone out there knows whether Disney has plan to build a theme park here in Texas (McKinney)? |
Travel Info rumor says that Disney acquired a huge piece of land in North Dallas. Travel Tips Disney's US interests focus on the three parks already in operation and their cruise line. Disney's land acquiring interests lie overseas, as Disney has more parks overseas than right here in USA. Each state has it's own "Disney bought land nearby!" rumor. McKinney is only the umpteenth city in Texas to have one. Disney is not interested in becoming the next Six Flags, as in "regional" theme park operator; they are a "destination" theme park area, with resorts. Building more Disney parks elsewhere in the country would only take away visitors to the two they already have. The guy above me is correct with the hotel/resort-type idea; I've heard they had picked out some places in or around the Metroplex, but that was several months ago; I haven't heard anything else about it this year. Not sure how serious they were about it. Others Still rumor at this point, but that's the second time I've seen this question re: Texas. Couple weeks ago, someone asked about San Antonio. May not be a theme park, could just be a hotel property for their Disney Vacation Club. I read on yahoo about 3 days ago, that disney was going to build a "ski resort" in ft.worth. and that it is 7 million dollar deal, and they should be breaking ground later this year. A few years ago it was rumored that there was going to be a theme park built north of Marshall, Texas, but nothing has materialized. |
