Which are good school zones in Dallas, TX?

Travel Info
We will be moving to Dallas shortly, and would like to know which are good school zones to live in and approximately how much will be the cost of renting or buying a house.

Travel Tips
This is a "how long is a snake?" question. We need more details from you. Decent housing in Dallas area these days starts about $225K and goes up from there into the millions.

There are good schools in many communities, even in Dallas itself. Excellent schhol districts are Richardson, Plano, Frisco, Coppell, Allen and so on. The best is the Park Cities if you have a fortune. Life for children in Dallas is very competitive (maybe everywhere these days?) so if you intend to be here a long time, look at the ultimate size of the high school class (in some districts, over 1000).

We need to know where you will work, if you want public transportation, and so on.

Give us more details and we'll give you more help.
Others
If you live in Plano a good house is about 250K.That school district is nice. Richardson is ok but you will not get much for 250K unless you lookat townhomes and some of the neighborhoods are "transitioning" i.e. nice homes in the hood. You can rent a home in Plano for about 2k a month.
If you are going to work in Plano then live there. You can get more affordable houses there, and most of the school district is good. They do have some bad schools also. You can get a nice house in Plano for under $200K around 2,000 sq.ft. Right now there are lots of houses for sale and the prices have come down.
McKinney has a really good school district
the dallas school district has some good schools, a few of its high schools were ranked top in the nation. The surrounding areas/towns are pretty good too but may be more competivie because of large student body and very large graduating classes.
You won't find a "bad" community in the Plano and immediate areas. I'd stay out of Dallas city limits but otherwise, the cities are all 'burbs that are pretty well run and with good schools. Really it'll come down to neighborhoods, locations and prices. Do you want older/established, or brand new on the fringe, etc.
