Rent, food, jobs, in dallas in 1968?

Travel Info
what was amount of housing, cars, and food in 1968?

Travel Tips
I lived in Dallas in '68. Housing was plentiful and not expensive. I had a 1 BR apt. in Oak Cliff for $135. It had a pool and covered parking, and was in a sage neighborhood.

Cars? They were cheap by today's standards. I had a '66 Mustang that I bought from a guy who was being drafted. All I had to do was to take over the payments. Don't remember what I paid, but it wasn't a lot.

Food also was way less than today. Milk was about $1 a gallon, cigarettes were 40 cents a pack, the best T-bone in the grocery store was under $3. Gas was about 35 cents a gallon. A new shirt was under $5. You could shoot pool for $1 an hour, and bowling was 50 cents.

Of course, wages were also low, compared to now.
