How would you describe the city of Denton, TX? Is it lively? Can you tell it's a college town? stores? |
Travel Info I will be moving around the area soon, and I wanted to get a "heads-up" before then. Is the town youthful, with plenty of students (18-24)? Any cool, hip places to hang out? I'm not big on partying or anything too extravagant. I'm thinking about transfering to UNT. Maybe... Travel Tips i love denton! i am about a hour and a half away. its a college town with tons or stores and resturants! lots of college kids. really close to the metroplex so fun stuff to do on the weekends! the only downfall for me is that the highway to get here is the most dangerous highway in Texas, only two lanes mostly semis...yah not good unt is beautiful campus. Others I've only been there once. I lived in Frisco Texas for 1 year and when I went it seemed like a small, uneventful town. I live in Austin and Attend UT, my sister-in-law is a masters student up in Denton. That town is well small, has a very large (18-24) population because of the university. It has its parties and such some wild some not. Other than that there isn't really a whole lot to do. There are a few lakes near by and Ft. Worth and Dallas aren't to far. If you want a party school in a cool place go to Texas State in San Marcos (formerly known as Southwest Texas biggest party school in America, hence why they changed the name) or here in Austin at UT, Concordia, or Virgina here in town. There is also much much more to do in Austin and/or San Antonio that area of Texas is pretty much boring. I live in Denton right now; I've been here for nearly three years. The best way I can describe it is a pretty liberal college town surrounded by old cowboys and rednecks; somehow everyone is pretty cool with each other though. There are quite a few bars, especially on "Fry Street". Some nights, Fry St. is packed with students in the streets and bars and is very lively. Also, there is a really big music scene up here....live shows almost every night of the week. Best thing about Denton though is it's still close enough to Dallas (35 min or so) if you want to go out down there, unlike other college towns in Texas (Lubbock, Waco, College Station, etc) |
