Why is Texas such a cuturally conservative state or so unfriendly!? |
Travel Info I mean is why are texans are so mean to us Yankees,the woment here are goldigging whores,the men r mean macho jackasses.Why R people in texas such jackasses? Travel Tips Here goes: I'm originally from Chicago and I understand the type of people that you're talking about, however, to claim that everyone is like that down here would be a huge stretch. To the other answerers: You'll have to understand why it might be a bit overwhelming for a person to move down here to Texas. First of all, the whole Texas pride thing is enough to make someone's stomach churn. It's one thing to be proud of where you're from. Everyone should be. It's another to claim that your place is better than everywhere else. I hear a lot of people claiming that "Texas is The Best", however, most of those that claim that in my experience have never been outside of Texas to make that a comparison. Sure, your home is going to feel most comfortable to you...just don't automatically associate that with the best. Each city in Texas is different. I travel regularly for work all over the country and have experienced all of the major cities and some that weren't so major. Each city has its different personality. Oh, and just as a side note - to the person that spoke of customer service in the North - as a person that speaks to audiences about customer service I can tell you that it's certainly not a regional thing so please don't associate the two. Poor customer is everywhere now! As far as the women go...ALL MEN are dealing with that. You think the "Gold Digging" women that you speak of give a break to a guy because they're from here? If they're like that to begin with, they're going to be like that to everyone. It's just the way they were brought up. It has nothing to do with where they are from. As far as the men being macho jackasses, once again, it's all about how they were brought up. It's not about being from Texas. The people that responded with "Leave Yankee" and similar quotes, he's referring to your type. To the asker, don't stereotype everyone down here. Not everyone is like that and you'll find petty crap everywhere that you go. I've seen it. Seek out the positives and let the others live in their sad and pathetic lives. Others This texas woman says, "go back up north if you can't handle it down here." My quote is based on if you can't find anything good and want to stereotype the whole state. I have lived in Texas all but six months of my life, and for those six months, I was in Montana and Minnesota on jobs, you can't get any more north than that. Sure it was pretty, but I was so ready to get back to Texas for SO many reasons. Yeah, you bet I have pride, I have seen what the north has to offer, and I'm glad I was born and raised in this state. As you think we are rude down here, I thought the same for up there. I consider myself friendly and outgoing, and I am NOT blonde, and I don't perk my breasts up and I am NOT a gold digger. So yeah, I have my quote, I didn't like it up there, and you bet, I came back home,,,proudly! We are friendly people...compared to up north, the majority of us are slow pace and country people, we like to "treat em' right", but if you come down here with the wrong attitude, we'll "git r done"... LOL! It's just a stereotype, people in the north are snobby in our eyes and people in the south are big country in their eyes.. is it true? Not all the way. I mean I've called up north several times (including NY, NJ & Boston) to order stuff and the reps I get on the phone (for the most part) are so not customer friendly... I keep my cool, but sometimes I wanna get blunt with these men & women. Anyways, not sure what to tell you on your question, it's just very broad and untrue for the most part. A Cowboy culture still prevails. Dallas is one of the hardest city I have ever lived in. We only like people who look like us, talk like us, and think like us. We are very unfriendly to any outsiders. I don't know why, but I have lived here for 23 years and am always shocked at how people can just look right Thu you. Don't get me started on the "Painted Pony" syndrome. You know the look. Big bleach Blond hair, with there boobs pressed skyward, in super tight jeans with half their rump showing. looking like they are getting ready to pick up a coupla bucks dancing around a pole. As far as the Macho Men, they are just little boys in big trucks. Dallas can be a Small town full of small minds playing dress up. Then one day you will meet someone who really is from Texas and your whole vision of the place will change. So really all I can say Welcome to Texas and happy huntin. A yankee with a uhaul going north would just make our day You probably only met a few people from Texas. The people in Texas are as varied as the land is. Some have an attitude about people from up north because Yankess sometimes act superior to southerners. |
