Where is the nearest mountains or best view closest to dallas? |
Travel Info well they call those things mountains at possum kingdom right? and arent there some in okla? and some ozarks in okla too? help Travel Tips The Ozark Mountains actually look a lot like mountains and are in Northwest Arkansas and Southern Missouri. To get to real mountains you must drive to New Mexico or Colorado. In the summer, Taos or Santa Fe is about 12 or 13 hours. Others Montana! Drive West of hwy I-20. You can drive down to Austin and climb up Mount Bonnell. Okay, it's not REALLY a mountain, but it has a great view of the city. Head out towards El Paso in I-20 and check out Guadalupe Peak. It's the highest point in Texas at 8,749 feet. It's worth the drive. In Oklahoma, head out west to Black Mesa Mountain, elevation 4,973 feet. It's on the western border with Colorado. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/guadalupe_p... The closest is probably in Arkansas just north of Arkadelphia, which is on I-30. The highest mountains would be west of Dallas, probably 5 or 6 hours away depending on how fast you drive. |
