Anything fun to do in Dallas/Fort Worth area? |
Travel Info I am going to visit a friend in Texas. She hasn't lived there very long. Any hot spots in the Dallas/Fort Worth area? Travel Tips A couple of years ago I visited some relatives in the Fort Worth area. The downtown area is really fun and there are different things to do there. I went to the stockades and saw the rodeo and I also went to a maze. Others Two words. Bum fighting. If you're looking for freshly brewed beer, good food and big screen sports TV, make Humperdink's the place to stop after work. At least two of the multiple locations have exceptionally tall ceilings (better to capture the smoke, my dear). Try the superb Texas Blonde brew. If you haven't already, it'll make you want to bleach your hair. Movie theater The Granada Movie Grill on Greenville Avenue and the Granada Movie Grill/Prestonwood have put dinner and a movie under the same roof. The landmark neon tower of the Greenville Avenue location attracts diners to pizza, burgers, beer and broadcasts of sporting events, as well as films. The newer Prestonwood venue has an expanded menu and shows first-run films on five screens. Honorable mention: Cinemark Live music Trees is the destination for the very hip who want to stay on the bleeding edge of music. In 1991, Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain duked it out with a bouncer, creating modern rock folklore and great marketing appeal for the club. It has a reputation as the venue that out-of-town bands have heard of, and the one that local bands want to play to prove they've arrived. It has great sound and good stage visibility. Honorable mention: Gypsy Tea Room Comedy club If a national comedian comes to town, the Addison Improv Comedy Club is usually the destination. A light menu is available, and the sketch comedy troupe known as Section 8 performs Wednesday nights, except when a national act is in town. Honorable mention: Ad-Libs Dance club The Red Jacket offers a different kind of music most every night of the week. Swing dance on Thursdays, disco and funk on Fridays and Saturdays and '80s on Sundays. Perennial crowd-pleaser Johnny Reno and the Lounge Kings is the house band. A 1998 expansion added the Ruby Room, a tasteless tribute to the assassin of John F. Kennedy's assassin. The room features a big photo of the moment Lee Harvey Oswald took a bullet from Jack Ruby. Place to take an out-of-town guest Are your folks from the farm here for a visit? Your suave Manhattan friends in for the weekend? Take them all to Deep Ellum. The body-piercing and tattoo salons will amaze the folks and impress the guys and gals from Gotham. It's great sightseeing if you like to people-watch the extreme offbeat fringes of popular culture. For the more history-minded, Deep Ellum's robust blues and jazz scene has roots that go far back into the century, when some of the best-known fathers of the genre played there. Honorable mention: West End Private club The most expensive country club in the Metroplex, Brook Hollow Golf Club has 18 holes of golf, 16 tennis courts, five private dining rooms, a fitness center and a swimming pool. Tucked away in lush grounds off Harry Hines Boulevard, the club is a hidden oasis in the midst of a gritty urban landscape. http://www.bizjournals.com/dallas/storie... the men usually have intercourse with their cows, which is why everything must be bigger, if you are to perform these despecable actions, however, it has been known to bring our great President, the Slitherin one, lots of joy to know his texasmen enjoy, and he does himself, COWS. And sometimes, cow tippin. or cow tippin and the intercourse, or vice versa. It depends. colder nights, warmer nights, sometimes cowboys just don't have the time. Malls- The Galleria of Dallas (Dallas North Tollway & 635), Grapevine Mills Mall. Gaylord Texan in Grapevine Check out the obsevation area at the DFW airport. You can watch all of the planes tacking off and landing. It's pretty cool. Go to Main Event Just watch out for traffic. Don't get caught up in rush hour. |
