What are the best places to live in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex? |
Travel Info That is in terms of cleanliness, safety, friendliness of people, services and facillities, etc. By the way, is traffic in the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex good or bad? Travel Tips I live in the Lower Greenville/Lakewood area and work downtown. My commute is 15 minutes and low stress. Lakewood has big trees, old (1920's) prairie style homes, is close to White Rock Lake, and has a general small town feel to it. Folks are friendly and I have never felt threatened. Hard to believe being so close to downtown Dallas, but I love it there. I would highly recommend that area. Others Traffic is horrible (but probably not as bad as bigger cities like Houston)... per your criteria, I would recommend the following areas in Dallas: Downtown, Uptown, Mockingbird Area, University Park... if you want farther out, you're looking at Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Plano. For your general happiness I would say live close to work. Traffic can be horrible any time of the day or night. If you're looking for a house and not an apartment I would recommend Addison. Lots of parks, restaurants and bars. Far North Dallas is also good and so are parts of Oak Lawn, and Oak Cliff. Knox-Henderson and Uptown are also good. If you have kids you would be better to move to Plano, Frisco or the part of Far North Dallas that is in the Richardson school district. |
