What area is more conservative ...houston or dallas? |
Travel Info i know both downtown areas probably have lots of liberals, but when you add in the suburbs and surrounding rural areas, which metro has the more republican/conservative/cowboy attitude...dallas metro or houston metro? Travel Tips I've lived in both, and honestly, there isn't much difference. I'm very conservative and very happy living just north of Dallas in Lewisville. Both seem to be pretty equal with other cities of comparative size--a good mix of everything. But I would say that the Ft. Worth area has the most conservative feel out of all the large cities in TX. Others It's tough, but I'll say Houston. Dallas is possibly on the verge of joining Berlin and Paris as the only cities in the world with openly gay mayors. Dallas also has an openly gay (and Hispanic) Sherriff and I think county judge. Read this week's issue of Time, there's an article about how Dallas is quickly catching up with Austin in terms of liberalism. I would say they are both about equal. Dallas and Houston are both littered with many large mega-churches. Truth be told, I'm gay and lived in Dallas for 34 years and nobody ever told me anything bad about being gay. Of course if I read the paper or went to gay day at the state fair, gay pride parade or to see Ellen DeGeneres do her stand up routine there were anti-gay protesters there, but they numbered about 5. I live in Southern California now and I think it's too conservative here. I've had somebody curse at me for being gay since I moved here and I'm not a flag-waving dyke. It was quite shocking and hurt my feelings. I love that attitude of being conservative. Its nice to have a home that way and people that way. I am going to Montana this year and sure will be waiting to see how the people are there I have only been to Houston a few times but I lived in Denton where I attended UNT and it was a VERY liberal town. Like some of the other answers stated, it depends on what suburb you are in. I would guess that they are both pretty similiar. Hope this helps. Dallas for sure. Houston is VERY trashy. People litter everywhere. At least Dallas is clean. Dallas also has better rural areas as well. I live here and I go to Houston alot. Houston is a mini-replica of Dallas. But the real Downtown Dallas is waaaay BETTER. |
