What do you know about the Bishop Arts District/area in Dallas, Texas? |
Travel Info Is it safe, upcoming, trendy, growing, close to everything in Dallas or the University campus near by? What's your take on that area. ? Travel Tips I have quite a few friends (all of them gay) that live in the area and have always loved visiting them. I would have lived there if it was close to my job. There are trees, rolling hills, cool restaurants and shops. It's close to the Stevens Park golf course neighborhood and that is a hidden Highland Park-like gem. There was always a nice neighborhood feel. Lots of young yuppie families pushing their kids in strollers. A lot of them work at the hospitals that are close by. It's definitely up and coming, my friends homes have gone up quite a bit in value. What's even better is the homes have character! The only thing that bites is if you want to buy alcohol, you have to drive across the Trinity since Oak Cliff is dry. Others It is close to downtown. I'm not aware of any university campuses nearby. It is very trendy, yet very friendly at the same time. There are a lot of gay-owned businesses and homes in the area. http://www.bishopartsdistrict.com/... The immediate area is safe...an older neighborhood with some beautiful old homes...big trees, big lots..close to downtown. It is trendy, the area is really being revitalized, and because of this, home prices are rising quickly. The shopping district is quaint with small intimate boutique-type stores and indepenedent restaurants. This area is quite close to the "projects" and there are some areas that one would not want to venture into. There are a lot of gay couples in this neighborhood. I do not believe any university is nearby. |
