We want a full time housekeeper / cook from Mexico - how do we make sure she's legal? |
Travel Info We want a full time housekeeper / cook from Mexico - how do we make sure she's legal? Travel Tips would you like her to teach you or your children spanish? if this is the reason, my best advice would be to sponsor a mature college student using the "nanny" type visa. or go to an au pair service. they could connect you with someone from spain, possibly mexico. you want someone who speaks correctly, using educated language. if you just like mexican food or something, do as someone else suggested...she needs to present her work visa or greencard, and then you can take it to a local INS office or call in for verification. Others well so that u dont do like so many american companies do. if i were you i would put on the job application must speak fluent english and be an american citizen and have the proper paperwork. i dont like the idea myself of this 6 month work visa nonsense. cause although work visas are a legal way. u would have to replace the person in a period of time. where as if u get one that is an american citizen. u could have her for as long as she wants the job The safest way is to sponsor her. Have a look at http://www.4nannytaxes.com/news/foreignd... It sounds a bit of a hassle but much less of one than inadvertently hiring someone without the right to work. Short Answer: Make her present her Green Card, and then call INS to verify it's legality. Best Answer: Hire an American from a Mexican family (that is, a Mexican-American) who knows how to really cook! Umm...ok? Why does she have to be from Mexico? Lol...that sounds pretty stupid. Anyways, most of them aren't legal, that's why they are doing those jobs. |
