Travel Tips
No, it's not flooded most of the time; I think the last bad flood in Dallas was in 1995, and it didn't last long, and it was mostly the downtown area that was bad.
Dallas is not affected by hurricanes, except for the people that come to Dallas to get away from hurricanes. There are many parts of Texas that are never affected by floods.

We get a lot of hurricanes but they never really hit down too hard. On occasion we have extensive periods of rain, but not too much flooding. Its usually really hot here. Or the infamous Texas Winds are blowing.
Hi, from Cedar Hill
Hipsterscum described it perfect !
I have lived in Dallas my entire life and it has never really been that much of a problem. This year has been different than most though. The main problem is that north Texas went through a period of about 6 or 7 years where we had below average rainfall. Severe water restrictions have been in place for several years in a row. Lake levels were at 50 year lows.
Then this spring it has been almost nothing but rain. The combination of dry soil and an excess of rain have created flash floods pretty much all of spring. It usually doesn't hang around for long, but it can get pretty bad at times.
If you are planning on moving to the area, I wouldn't be too concerned. It is dangerously close to summer around here and once summer hits, the rain pretty much disappears.
ya pretty much allot!!! see i live in horse u bay and we have low water crosses and they flood every time it rains! its not really as bad as it sounds. i LOVE IT IN TEXAS!!!!!!! the flooding does include Dallas.
The flooding the other day was in Sherman, a small city about an hour North of Dallas.

Dallas has has an unusual season. Usually we don't get this much rain.
I've lived in Dallas since I was 3 years old. I'm 30 now. I remember being about 4 and having to walk through water in my pre-school one day. Other than that, I can't remember actually being flooded out of any place I lived in or visited.

I have seen flooding on the news lately - that was in Gainsville, just north of Denton basically on the border of Oklahoma.

It rains a lot when it does rain, but it's not a problem. Cost of living is great. Jobs are plentiful, and there is tons of shopping and restaurants here if you like to do that.
