Relocating to DFW, where should I live? |
Travel Info I recently graduated from college and accepted a position with Aetna. My office will be located in Arlington, but I have my heart set on living in Dallas so that I may enjoy all the city has to offer. But I am not opposed to living in Arlington, because I know it would cut down my commute time. A little about me: Single Black female, 21, from Buffalo,NY. Looking for a diverse community with other young professionals. I will have a salary of $45,000 but I'm not too sure far that goes in Dallas for an apartment. I want a nice apartment (that doesnt mean luxury lol) where I can easiyl find things to do in the area (I like to shop and try new resturants and museums) .I've heard things about the village and i was strongly considering it, but I think the commute would kill me. Am I correct? Any suggestions on good areas, areas to stay away from, or anything you all deem important given my situation is greatly appreciated. Travel Tips Live in Arlington, lots of great places to live there and you won't have a long commute. Also, for specific apartment recommendation, use an apartment locator, they are free. Source(s): Lived in arlington for over 5 years http://www.aptselector.com/arlington/ind... Other Travel Tips You should live up north. Most of the new homes/condos and such are being built in Plano or Frisco. Live in Plano Lets set the record straight Plano is the last place you want to live and try to commute to arlington unless you consider your car to be your second home. At your age the west village ,Uptown,Lakewood, Greenville Ave., Deep Ellum would all be great locations in the heart of everything from shopping to club scene and restaurants, museums and theater. All these locations are a 20 to 30 minute commute to arlington. I would advise not considering arlington home there is to much construction going on and its a little rough. I hope this helps and good luck in big D. One final thought you may want to check my old digs, they are still availiable on 5826 Victor st. in Lakewood , its a 2bed 1 bath in a quiet sixplex with great neighbors.call sarah @ 214-827-6467. Good luck. 25 year resident of Dallas now in Mississippi don't worry too much about the commute...if you live in Dallas and work in Arligton, you would be driving against traffic....so, the 15 miles...would only take you 20 minutes or so... young professional....wanting restaurants and museums, and nightlife...i would say definitely in the downtown area...Knox-Henderson is cool...West Village...Victory Park area is now booming...all with a "city" feel. While Arlington is nice...it is the suburbs...and it is red-neck...the ball parks are there, as well as Six-Flags...but, not much in the way of any kind of "urban" feel...again, very red-neck...think NASCAR... Best of Luck to you |
