Doesn't the thunder in texas sound like explosions? |
Travel Info Doesn't the thunder in texas sound like explosions? Travel Tips Scientifically, it is an explosion. A release of energy between light and sound. Others Yes because everything is bigger and better in Texas. Being a misplaced Texan, I miss the thunder storms. But I hope and prey for all my fellow Lone Stars that the rain will subside. Keep dry and Let's go Romo! It sure does! I'm in Collin county TX right now, but I've also lived in Florida and Pennsylvania. So far, the loudest thunderclaps I've heard have been in PA. One was so intensely loud and percussive that I thought a car exploded in the street!! I think they are loud too, scare me to death sometimes. Thunder is the sound made by lightning. Depending on the nature of the lightning and distance of the hearer, it can range from a sharp, loud crack to a long, low rumble. It is produced by a sonic shock wave caused by the rapid expansion of the air surrounding and within a bolt of lightning. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/thunder... |
