Travel Info Which big city is closest to Gainesville,TX? Travel Tips Dallas is 70 miles away. Fort Worth is 65 miles away. Oklahoma City is 137 miles away. Source(s): yahoo maps Other Travel Tips Ft Worth or Dallas. It's a couple of hours north on IH 35, depending on where you start. It's also a couple of hours south of Oklahoma City, but Ft Worth and Dallas are bigger. That would be a kind of a redneck trip, but there is a pretty big outlet mall in Gainsville. Well technically Denton is the bigest...then comes Dallas, then Arlington, then Ft.worth. I live in Arl. and we used to drive to Gainsville once a month to visit my grandmother...it was about 2 1/2 hrs to get there. Right now tho Gainsville is flooded or having to recover from flooding. It's been raining at least 2 inches a day right now for the past week and a half. Denton-big- 20-30minutes Dallas-huge-1hour Dallas is about 60 miles southeast of Gainesville, and Fort Worth is about the same distance to the southwest. Denton is NOT a big city; it's bigger than Gainesville, but not near as big as Ft. Worth or Dallas. Gainesville is a little closer to Ft. Worth than to Dallas. I-35 splits at Denton; I-35W goes to Ft. Worth, I-35E goes to Dallas. It's not much more than an hour and a half to either one, unless there is a traffic jam. |
