Travel Info moving to texas!!! yikes. Travel Tips Texas isn't that bad. I'd be worried about moving to Australia. :) Tarantulas are in Texas, but if you live in a big city like Ft. Girl, do you think the spiders are going to set their sights on YOU! this question is too funny! Yes. There are. Sure there are ! They really aren't dangerous though. At least they are big enough that you can see them. I had one for 7 years as a pet and they are an interesting spider to watch. All the kids in the neighborhood liked to come down and watch her. I have to admit, they are not a real active pet . They are not poisoness. They have a paralizeing venom. They can bite their prey, wrap it in silk and come back later and eat it.Sometimes their prey will come out of it where it was bitten earlier and if the spider doesn't want them then, they just bite them again. A tarantula sheds it's skin like a snake does. Had you heard this ? The old empty skin looks like a regular spider just sitting there.The empty shell is ground up and used for itching powder in gag jokes (not really funny). When a tarantula sees danger approaching, they turn their back to it and when it gets close enough, it throws the hair ( with one of it's hind leg) from it's body into the eyes of whatever is comeing.This normally runs it's preditor off. If they need to, they can jump. Far and fast. I know from 10 to 12 feet. Think I've read they can jump farther but I know 10 -12. Learn about them. They are really neat. And as much as I hate to say this,If you can't just sweep it out your door: smash it with the broom. No, because of Bush's immigration plan, those damn spiders can't crawl over that fence at the border. So don't worry about the spiders, Bush is taking care of those too. |
