In time sharing you usually buy the right to live in an apt. or condo for 1 week of the year. Other's use it the rest of the year. You pay an up front fee (several thousand dollars) and an annual maintenance fee. You can also swap your week with someone who owns one at a different location but only if yours is in a time and place that others will want to stay.
