If you are having it tied on your wrist just for fun or something new for you without any commitment or sincerity in mind, don't go for it. Rather have a friendship band tied on your wrist for satisfaction. The feelings behind this whole exercise between a brother and a sister is that of a commitment to such relationship that whenever sister would be in trouble, the brother would do everything possible to help her at whatever cost or sacrifice. Practically, it may be difficult for many to honour this commitment in such relationships and binding oneself afresh for such a duty/commitment may not be easy for easy going relationships. Both of you have to be clear about the sanctity and commitments involved and a determination to honour this for rest of the life. Just asking any lady to perform this tie would be far easier than honouring the spirit behind this. BTW, the word "Rakdi" is also used in Punjabi language in India which has the same meaning as Rakhi in Hindi.. Others You mean Rakhi- it is a thread that is tied by a sister on her brother's wrist.
