Commenced by Kutab Uddin Aibak in 1200 and completed by his successor Shamsuddin Altamash in 1220 A.D. It is 238 feet one inch in height, 47 feet 3 inches in diameter, and an upward diameter of 9 feet.

It contains thre hundred and seventy nine stairs. Engraved in the Kufi character are carved inscriptions on all the stories.
