Tips for 3day visit to Delhi. some say no need for vaccinations just precautions. is malaria so easy to get?

Travel Tips
To be clear, there is currently no vaccine for malaria, nor for dengue fever. For malaria, your options are to take a malaria drug as a prophylactic or carry malaria medication in case symptoms occur. Urban areas such as Delhi have almost no outbreaks of malaria, and if you are going to be there for only three days and aren't heading to rural areas, you are at a very low risk for contracting malaria. If you do by some cosmic twist of fate contract malaria, you will be home before you show symptoms (ten or more days after getting bit).

If you do take a prophylactic drug for malaria, you will need to start it before you arrive and continue taking it after you leave. For example for Lariam, you will need to start taking it a week before you arrive and continue for four weeks after you leave.

If I were going back to India for 3 days, I would not take any malaria drug, and would see a doctor only if I had symptoms after the trip. I would make sure that my other vaccinations (hepatitis, tetanus, etc.) were up to date, though.

Don't worry about it, you'll be okay.

What's the worst that good happen? Take a chance and just go out and enjoy yourself. If you don't die then just think what an interesting anecdote it'll make.

Hei, get vaccination for DENGUE fever. In Delhi, now this is widely affected by people.
Listen to what people tell you, don't take the stuff - its poison, but get treated if symptoms show up after.
It depends on where you are living and where you are visiting.
If you are living in PAHAR GANJ-takevaccination very very seriously. If you are visiting OLD DELHI streets or anywhere near JAMUNA RIVER- takes vaccination very very seriously.

But if you are living in good hotel in good locality and visiting some popular places only-no need to worry.

One should not PANICK but one should not be CARELESS too.
Continued.
Yes...malaria is very easy to get but it depends on the area you are staying in. I live near the sea and mangroves where they can breed. They love stagnant water and breed there. If you do not have this near where you are to stay you are relatively safe. You will know when a mosquito is near you because it usually has a high buzzing sound near your ears. You can use Odomos an insect repellant and you can use Good Knight tablets which are put in a holder and plugged into an electric light socket. That really does keep them away if you sleep near it. The mosquitos seem to bite at night. I THINK malaria has been eradicated in India but I am not completely sure of this
As for upset tummies we used Isabgol (the husk of the flea seed....dont get nervous it is NOT fleas). You can even buy Isabgol from Boots here with a slightly different name but I do not know what it is actually called here. The seed is only grown in India and Sindhis (an Indian community }always use it. Your friend might be from UP or Punjab so I have no idea what they use.
\i hope this will help you make your own decision. Delhi is divided into two parts...Old Delhi and New Delhi...Old Delhi is very overcrowded but there is an awful lot to see there i.e. The Red Fort...Humayuns Tomb.... Kutib Minar and the Bahai Temple which looks like a lotus..You can take a trip from Delhi to Agra to see the Taj Mahal (BUT DO NOT EAT the food given to you on any of their tours or even the massive cucumbers that they eat to cool themselves down. Take your OWN water with you everywhere and eat only at good restaurants or hotels to be safe. Hot drinks like tea and coffee are safe to drink but are unlike our English tea...they are thick, sometimes have cardomom seed in them and coffee is usually made with thick milk (buffalo I believe). If you are not used to having very spicey food ask your hostess to give you moong dahl and rice with plain thick yoghurt. The thick yoghurt is good for tummy problems. The moong dahl and rice are given to people who are not well and cannot digest their food easily so you should be alright with that. Chillies create tummy upsets if you are not used to them so be careful. If you need any more help please ask. I do not mind answering your questions. I lived in India for 17 years and had a fabulous time and I hope you will have a lovely holiday. there are many sights to see some good and some bad but India will certainly leave an impression on your mind. I hope good!!
Right - maleria is only easy to get if you have weakened your system with vaccination!

Do NOT get vaccinated.

A vaccinated person is MORE likely to get a disease than a non-vaccinated person. The whole theory of vaccination is flawed. It causes a weakening of the immune system thus making those who are innoculated more susceptible to disease.
There are so many awful side effects to vaccination that it should be considered extremely dangerous.
Just sit back and think for a while.
Is there any sense in injecting a disease directly into your body.
We have been subjected to an awful mind control program to enable the drug manufacturers to make a fortune.
