Tips for a 3 week trip to India in December? |
Travel Info I am looking into going to India by myself for 3 weeks in December during my break from school. I want to do a trip with a small tour group to stay safety and maximize what I can see. (I used this company before for part of my trip to Vietnam and Cambodia and was happy with it)I was looking for some advice and tips on what places I shouldn't miss. (For the 15 day trips I can add in stuff on my own) Here are some of the trips I am looking at: Travel Tips There's a lot to see in India, and three weeks isn't enough time to see it all. I don't know that I'd say anything is "can't miss" (maybe the Taj Mahal, but all of your itineraries include Agra), and some people have already given you some good suggestions. My only suggestion is to have a plan that allows for some flexibility as arranging transportation can sometimes be tricky. Since you've traveled before, you already know the stuff like don't drink the water, keep an eye on your stuff, etc. All of that applies doubly for India. India is a wonder place; you'll have fun wherever you decide to go. Others don't drink the water in india and don't eat roadside food! also if transexuals come near you just pretend like you're not scared of them. So the clubs are really good and fun. See traditional temples and stuff like that. And just have fun! For the most part, its really safe and people are always willing to help. Have fun! You have the knowledge of North India, The south Which has a history for more than 10,000 years there a numerous spot to visit here. In Tamil Nadu, Mahabalipuram, Kancheepuram Pichavaram, Around Chennai, Trichy, Tanjore, Kumbakonam, Kodaikanal, Ooty, Yerkad, Kanyakumari, Rameswaram, lots and lots pls visit Tamilnadu, Andrapradesh, Karnataka, and Kerala Toursim web site for further information All palces are well connected by all means there is no fear for, accomadation, food and security My personall Advice is to Divide your holiday to teo legs one for North another for south. Best of luck and have happy holiday In Andrs You mentioned you have 3 weeks - I would suggest you try to cover more area than just North India. Yes, Agra, Delhi and Rajasthan cannot certainly be missed. Try to see if your tour group organizer can arrange soemthing where you can do certain other parts of India as well - here is a list of places that you have not mentioned, but worht the visit. Go over it ith your tour organizer and see what they can or cannot include - Goa - great beaches, beautiful place Kanyakumari - southern most tip of India Kerela - a state often called God's own country, try to visit Silent valley National Park Hyderabad - another prominent sity in the south Darjeeling - can see the Himalayas -you can even see Mt Everest on a clear sunny day Assam - see rhinos at Kazhiranga national park Uttaranchal - see tigers & leopards Corbett National park Even with this you will just be touching the tip of an ice berg. But do your best. Here are some safety tips as well - 1. Get all your travel shots - India is know for malaria and typhoid. 2. Don't carry large amount of cash or wear jewelry of any sorts 3. Keep passport and camera in a safe place where pickpockets cannot get it easliy 4. Wear cotton clothes and dress a bit on the conservative side - no mini skirts or spaghetti straps which may attract unsocial elements. Some parts of India (Darjeeling) maybe very cold while others (south) maybe hot - take clothes for all weather types. 5. Donot tip beggars or poor hungry kids - they will make your life miserable. 6. Dont travel alone in a remote area or in the night. The last programme you have mentioned sounds good since you will be covering Rajasthan state, Varanasi and Kolkatta. Arranged tours as you rightly have noted, are safe and systematic and they show you lot of places. If you have few days more at hand, you can think of a trip to either Goa (on western coast) or Bangalore (south India) . At this point of time here, weather is generally on the warmer side since winter is a month or two away. Drink bottled water and simple food in good hotels. Rest is easy and pleasant in India. Have a nice time. when u will be in delhi then u must visit akshardham mandir, india gate and when u will be in rajasthan u should go to jaipur there u must visit chowki dhani-it is a marvellous place.it is designed to look like a village and many foriegners enjoy going there. Hey, lucky you!!! Well, i took a trip to India two years ago too and i would like to give you some tips on what to take there and what to see, of course. 1) take a lot of sunscreen. I am an indian, so my skin wasn't affected by the intense heat. if you are foreign to the weather conditions, then you should take as much protection as possible. 2) bring sunglasses - good in keeping the eyes cool. 3) Visit kanyakumari, at the southern tip of India. (it is really at the tip of India - last piece of India before going on to Sri Lanka). 4) visit Ooty, it is near the Coimbuture district in southeastern India - I believe near Chennai. 5) always boil any water you buy from outdoors. 6) have fun |
