I am looking for a place to stay during 6 months in N.Delhi, near the Jawarahal Nehru University.Any address? |
Travel Info I am looking for a room to stay in a budget upper limit of 20$ per night. It can be a B&B, homestay or shared flat. As I will attend the Sanskrit School at the JNU, commuting facilities and time should be good. My first arrival should be early October 2007. Travel Tips If you are doing a course in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), the best place to stay would be JNU hostel itself. It has a International Students Hostel as far as i know. Contact the person you are in touch with at JNU and you should be able to find out. Otherwise you can always stay in the JNU hostel as a guest for some days and once you get there and meet your fellow mates, you have a better chance of finding out about cheap accomodations and even meeting people who would be willing to share and welcome a split in the rent they are paying. I have lived in Delhi as a student for 7 years and i can tell you that the best deals are not available online. And you should get there first before you try anything out. Especially if you have never been to India. And also in this manner you would be able to figure out what suits you best and what you are comfortable with. Crashing at the JNU hostel for a few weeks or even a month should not be a hassle at all. Another thing, of course it ultimately depends on what exactly you are looking for but if you don't want something extravagant, $20 per night is too expensive by Indian Standards for shared flats. You could spend that much and stay in a not so budget hotel. BTW, you are really lucky you are not going to be in Delhi during the summer months. Winter is the best season in Delhi and JNU is a great place. Have fun. Others spiti please visit http://www.freewebs.com/aashiana-for-a-c... it is ten minutes drive from JNU and has excellent facilities. try out the rental sites in delhi, u should get some good offers there. here is one to start u on it: http://www.indiahousing.com/delhi/houses... 20 $ (I suppose its USD) means Indian Rupees 900. This is a very big amount for a night's stay. You can easily get a room for about Rupees 4500 per month. This does not include power and food charges. Since IIT Delhi is very near to JNU, one can easily get a good room. Do try at Jia Sarai, Sheikh Sarai and all those names which end in a 'sarai'. You can easily find students living their on their own or as a PG. I live i Gurgaon, a suburb of New Delhi. I am a 60 years old retired guy. I have a 2 bedroom apartment and Iive alone. I can acomodate you as my paying guest with bed, b/ f as well as dinner. I have 24 hours helper too who can take care of your laundery andother such needs. It will take you about 45 mins too get to JNU from my place. Charges can be negotiated but I can assure you a very comfortable home stay. |
