Travel Info How successful is the bed & breakfast scheme floated by Ministery of Tourism in Delhi? Travel Tips The scheme has just been launched. People are sceptical about its success. It will take for a while to see the genuineness of the Ministry of Tourism and Delhi Government about the scheme. Others Not very good i'm afraid Its simple................. Not successful, as people are not sure if taxes will be charged for property, water, electricity, etc, at commercial or residential rates. Many people are hesitant to let strangers into the house, fearing invasion of privacy. The well off people who have space in their homes, do not feel the need to rent out their premises. The concept of bed and breakfast itself is quite new to India, unlike Europe. In Kerala and Goa it has caught on with many people offering accomodation as homestays. its still too early to comment on this. will take sometime to see proper implementation & effect of this scheme. maybe a year or so later, more can be said about this. From what I've read, heard and also seen, it seems a pretty unique scheme and is fairly successful given the fact that Indians are very sceptical of new things. Some of the B&B options in NCR are very successful and are doing fairly well. Also at the price range of 1500-3500 they are better options than most hotels and give you a taste of the true Indian hospitality. I have met some people who are on the B & B scheme and they are excited about the prospects. Net Net it seems like a win-win situation for all parties involved. |
