Need some advice about clothing in India? |
Travel Info I will be travelling to Delhi in June/July. I already plan on wearing a cotton salwar kameez, but I was wondering if there are any colors that I should avoid that may attract the wrong kind of attention? Or colors that mean certain things that I should avoid? Also, someone said that you shouldn't wear white as it can get dusty which then makes white clothing very dirty. Is that true? Any other advice would be very much appreciated. Travel Tips It will be quite hot, so wear conservative, cotton garments. It can get quite dusty in Delhi, so whites do not stay white. Have a look at this website: http://www.journeywoman.com - lots of useful tips from women to women travelers! I googled "what to wear in India" and this came up http://www.journeywoman.com/ccc/ccc-i.ht... and http://www.india-travel-agents.com/india... other interesting websites). Safe travels! Others Was in Delhi this past August. DRESS FOR THE HEAT!, it is unbearable to all except the locals and they were even complaining (100+F with very high humidity). My wife wore lots of white, it never got dusty. Delhi is a fairly clean city unless you roll around on the ground, I guess. Most people dress conservatively, men slacks and short sleeve shirts. Women, if not local garb, then slacks and blouses with short sleeves. Light cotton clothing is OK. You can wear any color you like. Do not wear revealing dress like spaghetti strap and minis in public which would attract too much attraction. European dress and professional are acceptable. no its not like that ...u can wear anything u like ...no one bothers here ya but it will b gud if u wear light colour cloth |
