New Delhi Eastern & Western Courts? |
Travel Info Hi, I've always been curious as to what exactly happens at the New Delhi CP, Eastern and Western Courts...Does anybody know, everytime I passby am curious, because they are such beautiful constructions, but you seen no activity happening, its funny I cannot find any information on them on google nor on yahoo. Am sure some one out there must be knowing what exactly happens in there. Travel Tips Magic spice, yes indeed; these are indeed beautiful buildings on Janpath. In Lutyens Delhi, the road was often compared with the Champ elysses of Paris with some of the beautiful buildings like the Eastern and Western courts on the two sides. Currently, the Western Court serves as a transit hostel for Members of Parliament and the Eastern Court houses a post office and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) offices. The Englishman called Robert Tor Tussell built the Connaught Place and the Eastern and Western Courts. I too have often wondered why they were called courts. Have seen the majestic buildings with the beautiful courts in front and apart from anything else to link them with the name 'court', i assume these buildings have just that to take their name from!!! Others Delhi has four Courts Tis Hazari. Patiala house, Rohini Court and Karardooma. I've got information about Tis Hazari - Eastern Court Tis Hazari Courts Complex is the biggest Courts Complex in Asia . Initially, it had three floors and a fourth floor was added later on. At present there are 130 Courts functioning in this complex, as detailed here under: - 1. Court of District & Sessions Judge 01 2. Courts of Additional District Judges (excluding Hon鈥檅le District Judge) 47 3. Courts of Additional Sessions Judges 15 4. Appellate Tribunal for MCD & NDMC 01 5. Motor Accident Claims Tribunal 09 6. Court of Senior Civil Judge 01 7. Small Causes Court 01 8. Courts of Civil Judges 23 9. Court of Rent Controller 01 10.
