The son of the founder of the world famous Carlsberg breweries, Carl Jacobsen, went to see a ballet adoption of the famous fairytale. He liked it so much, that he ordered a statue of the mermaid from the artist Edvard Eriksen, to be placed at Langeline, close to the Royal Palace. The mermaid is smaller than most people think. And the artistic qualities is... mediocre. However, it is the most popular tourist attraction here in Copenhagen. I don't understand why.
