Travel Info I have to learn Danish, speak not write in two weeks, what is the best way to do this? Travel Tips Well they say the best way to learn a language is to be submerged in. Well I have been in Denmark for about 5 days now and have learned about 10 works so I doubt that I will speak Danish by the end of 2 weeks. I have friends here who have been here for years and are just now able to speak it. I am going to take a class I think. I am assuming you are coming here and that is why you need to learn? I wouldn't panick, learn a few word to get started, but EVERYBODY speaks english. Most important Hi hi = hello and apparently bye Tak = thank you Source(s): Foreigner in Denmark Other Travel Tips brain transplant i dont know about speakking danish but they sure are good for breakfast You will only be able to learn by actually speaking and you will need to have someone available to help correct any mistakes. Go to craigslist.org and ask around for someone who can teach you Danish. I've learned a couple of languages besides English. German I learned while living in Germany. That's the best way to learn. Total immersion in the culture should get you fluent in 6 months. I've had a lot of success with tape programs also. The best one I've found is the Pimsleur method. I used them to learn Spanish. They have tapes and CD's that will take you into a high degree of conversational proficiency just by listening and repeating. There are no books or writing to do just listen and learn. Another good teacher is Michel Thomas but I'm not sure if he teaches Danish. He's the guy they usually call for celebrities etc. to learn a language quickly. He's been called the world's best language teacher. I've used his CD's too and I really like them. Berlitz has got some good stuff too. They are especially good when it comes to learning how to pronounce words correctly. My German was helped greatly by Berlitz. Most Germans I speak with aren't aware that I'm an American until I tell them. Good Luck to you on learning the language. One more option is a language school or tutor if you live in a large city but be ready to spend a lot of money if you go that route. I got the Pimsleur tapes and the M. Thomas CD's at the library and you can't beat that price. I have lived in Denmark for over a year now and even have studied for a few months at there integrating schools and i have to say that learning Danish is a very difficult task and i don't believe it can be done in 2 weeks ,,any school teach will tell you there are 3 steps to learning another language ,,and it will take 6 years to master one as a second language ,,I wish you the best but have to say it cant be done ,, |
