Travel Info I am a U.S. citizen how would I become a Danish citizen, whats required and what would make it so I could'nt? Travel Tips Before you can even start to think about becoming a danish citizen you have to live for 14 years in Denmark as a permanent resident. In order to live in Denmark as a permanent resident with a U.S. passport you have three options: a) get married to a danish citizen. After a complicated application you can get a permanent residence permit. see: http://www.udlst.dk/en-us/residence/fami... b) get married to a european citizen other than danish. The EU constitution allows EU citizens to live and work in other european countries with their spouse. This would grant you a residence permit. http://www.udlst.dk/en-us/residence/eu_a... c) if you have speciel skills such as being qualified as an engineer or a doctor you can get a special work permit for Denmark. You can see a list here: http://www.udlst.dk/en-us/residence/work... Alternatively if you want to stay for a shorter while in Denmark it is possible to get a study permit. There are a number of degrees / diplomas that are taught in English. Source(s): http://www.udlst.dk/en-US/ Other Travel Tips This might help... http://www.legislationline.org/?tid=11&j... I know you have to speak Danish (even if you're the Crown Princess, although she got private lessons). Unless your parents are Danish, good luck. I live here and I doubt we will ever be able to become citizens. It is a big thing here. We have friends here whose children were born here and the children aren't even citizens. Basically you have to get a job here and keep it for I think 10 years and then hire a good lawyer. You should have a look at this website: www.newindenmark.dk there you should be able to find answers to your questions. Best of luck. get ahold of the embassy , you have to have a job there, and it is all on line and as any country is it is not easy.. |
