American family wanting to move to Denmark. Help!? |
Travel Info Hello, If anyone out there could answer this I will be amazed! We are wanting to emigrate to Denmark. I know this is no easy task. My husband and I want to have the whole job contract in hand before going over and having the work permit ect. ect. What I want to know does Denmark have a way to gain citizenship if you put a sum of money into the country? Some countries have this policy. I can not find out either way. If you know a good attorny that does emigration to Denmark that would help too. Thanks everyone! Oh yes, we are already learning the language. Travel Tips As some of the other answerers have mentioned, it is not easy to get a permit to live in Denmark these days. However, the government has recently proposed a new set of rules, in which immigrants will achieve points towards gaining permission to live in the country. Depending on when you are planning on going here, the rules might change between now and then. (Points, as proposed, can for instance be achieved by having a university degree, speaking the language etc.) I'd like to bid you a very warm welcome to Denmark (if you come), I hope you'll be happy here. You can find more information on this, the official website of the Ministry of Refugees, Immigration and Integration: www.newtodenmark.dk Source(s): I am Danish. Other Travel Tips Why not contact the embassy of Denmark here in the U.S. and ask them that questions. That will probably save you money rather than asking a lawyer that will answer the same question the embassy can. Why the hell would you want to move to denmark? That is like bieng a successfull person and then deciding to give it all up and live on the streets as a bum. I don't not what image some people have of Denmark, if I got a good job there I would easily move there myself. Contacting the danish embassy is a good tip. To answer your question I doubt that money will bring you citizenship, it's not possible for all that i know in other Scandinavian countries, what you need is some connection to the country through your family or to live in the country for some years with a work permit and a residence permit. I know the danish immigration rules are a bit more detailed than that, they were changed some years ago. Since I'm not an expert, here's some links instead: http://www.workindenmark.dk/ http://www.nyidanmark.dk/en-us (By the way, danish for citizenship is "statsborgerskab") Denmark is great country more saveful than US. But tax there are very high http://www.nemtyrev.narod.ru |
