Travel Info We all know the Danes are the happiest people on earth.With a liberal society and a welfare government things are easy there.But I am not sure the Danish embassy will accept my visa. ringola_rishikesh@yahoo.com Travel Tips Hate to burst your bubble, Ringola, but a welfare government and liberal society comes at a very high cost. Expect to pay up to half of your income in tax. Cost of living is very high. Daily goods are quite expensive. Car ownership is prohibitive. Winter is long and depressing. Take these "survey" results with a grain of salt. ---- updated after reading the 2nd answer ---- What exactly is "very negative"? I stated *facts*. If you think the *facts* about these basics of living in Denmark are inherently negative, then you must also think that living in DK is a negative experience. Note that *I* never made any judgements about the facts. I do not think myself anything. Second answer says there is no unemployment. This is not true, and the highest rates of unemployed are immigrants. Again, a *fact* not masked by feeling. Education is NOT free; everyone pays for it, under the guise of payroll taxes, from your first job until you die. Health care is NOT free; you pay for this also through your payroll tax that you have no control over, from first job until you die. I am offering a reality check.
