I'm moving to Denmark and need to know? |
Travel Info I would like to know if I have a satilite in denmark what kind of television can I have? I am from America and my main concern is getting WGN or ESPN. Hugh Cubs fan moving out of the U.S. Travel Tips Forget about being able to pick up US channels directly, except for (those such as CNN) which are intentionally marketed to Europe. I have just browsed through the schedules here in Denmark and it doesn't look like there is any regular baseball. However, I know that it is covered by British Channel 5 (although I don't know whether it is live). Channel 5 is encrypted, but free. You can pick up an appropriate receiver and viewing card on e-bay (see link). As for dish size... well, Denmark is right on the edge of the satellite footprint so it varies depending on where you live. It's about a metre where I live, but Copenhagen is much further east so it will need to be bigger there. ------------------------ EDIT: Checking this out further, it seems that the beam on which that particular channel is broadcast is centred on mainland Europe rather than the UK (as is the case for BBC channels), meaning that a smaller dish will suffice. ------------------------- There are many Irish pubs in Denmark that pick up British TV. Perhaps it might be a good idea to persuade the proprietors of your local one that it will be good business for them to let you watch it there. Edit: Of course. Slingbox. Best suggestion of all - wish I'd thought of that. Thumbs up. ps Sky does have 'ESPN', but it's not the same ESPN as in USA |
