Amtrak has a route that goes from Chicago to somewhere in California. It goes through Denver and Salt Lake City.

I am assuming you mean the Light Rail and yes it is opperating as of today. There was a strike a few weeks back. You can pick up the light rail at various points throughout Denver and ride it to Union Station. You will be very close to Coors Field then. Look for rates and times at http://www.rtd-denver.com/
