Where are some great places to go in denver, co?its going to be my first time up there and around snow!!!? |
Travel Info my best friend and i are going up there. And here in Tx, it really doesnt snow at all, so were a bit excited about that. We are really intrested in snowboarding and checking out some shops and new restaurants. And what kind of clothing do you suggests? Thank you very much! Travel Tips Like I said also in your other post, if you've got your heart set on coming in October, don't get your heart set on seeing snow. Usually October is still pretty warm. I'd bring a variety of clothes. One day it could be 70掳, the next it very well could be snowing. As far as fun things to see & do, well, there's plenty. There's Larimer Square & the 16th Street Mall in Lodo (which means lower downtown). http://www.larimersquare.com/ http://www.lodo.org/ The US Mint, the Museum of Nature & Science, & the aquarium if you want something educational. http://www.usmint.gov/index.cfm?flash=ye... http://www.dmns.org/main/en http://www.aquariumrestaurants.com/downt... Coors Brewery and the City of Blackhawk, where gambling is allowed, if you'd like some more adult entertainment. http://www.coors.com/ http://www.cityofblackhawk.org/... If you want adventure, try Elitch Gardens/Six Flags. http://www.sixflags.com/parks/elitchgard... There's so many thing to do in Denver, I'm sure you'll find something that excites you! Have fun! Others Are you coming up here soon? Hate to disappoint, but its summer here, upper 90's. Not much snow. Shorts and tee shirts are in order until October. Check out thee 16th st. mall. Its a ped mall with all kinds of restaurants and shops. Coors Field is really fun. There is Six Flags Elitch Gardens, if you like amusement parks. Check out Estes Park, if you have a car. Some really pretty mountain country. Although it can snow in October, you may not see any when you come. We've had very dry years now for quite a while. Bring warm clothes for the evening (heavy sweater) but the days are usually nice. Depending on when in October you are planning on being here, you may not be able to snow, resorts don't typically open until mid-late November. There is a lot to do in and around Denver (16th street mall, red rocks, museums, roxborough park, boulder, etc.) And as far as restaurants go, you'll find good places for all tastes and budgets. i live in the Denver metro area. its like 90 up here every day... ur not gonna c much snow if ur coming up soon. however if u come down in like november ull get some good snow. bring something for every type of weather. more for warm weather considering the time out here, but bring something for rain and a cold night or 2. hope u have fun. welcome 2 clorado!!! p.s. expect rapid weather changes If you're coming in summer, you will probably have a hard time finding much snow, even up in the mountains. It's been in the 90s here. We actually don't get too much snow anyway (it's very unpredictable and I think we only got 15-20 inches all last winter) so you're probably going to want to go up to the mountains for snow. You might want to check out Vail, Breckenridge or the Rocky Mountan National Park (all about 2 hours from Denver depending on traffic). For shops and restaurants, you probably want to go downtown Denver or Boulder. There are a couple of outlet malls, one in Castle Rock, one in Loveland and one somewhere up in the mountains. There is a restaurant called Beau Jo's that has "Colorado" pizza you might want to check out, it's pretty good. As for clothing, I would suggest layers, the weather here is very unpredictable and layers are best for cold weather anyway. If you're planning on snowboarding, you will need a jacket, gloves and some warm socks, I would suggest two pair (when snowboarding and stuff the outer pair gets wet. When it snows here, I usually wear jeans, a Tshirt, warm socks, boots, gloves, maybe a scarf and hat, maybe a sweater and then a jacket that I wear outside but can easily take off. For snowboarding, you probably want ski pants or pants that are more waterproof than jeans. |
