October can have warm, sunny days with temps in the 70s-80s, or we can have a blizzard. There's no predicting and no generalization. If you're expecting snow, you may be disappointed. Afraid Mama's right.....October is pretty unpredictable when it comes to snow. Most of the time, it's pretty nice temperatures. Generally, most of the Front Range receives the most snow in February through April. Even in the mountains, there's not that much snowfall yet in October. Loveland, Steamboat, Winter Park, are some of the first ski resorts to open every year and they usually open around mid-October. But it really depends on how much snow they get. The lower elevation resorts don't open until much later. If you're planning a trip just for skiing, I'd hold off a month or so. There's no guarantee there's going to be powder to play in in October. Slight correct from the above---- Opening Day for winterpark last year was NOVEMBER 16th. None of the resorts are open in October (that I am aware of) |
