Going on a road trip from Chicago to Pikes Peak, Colorado.? |
Travel Info It is my first road trip, and first time in Colorado. What should I visit? Is it worth it to drive to Boulder, I've heard that it is a great city. Is Colorado Springs really that cool as they say? Travel Tips Boulder is cool. They have fossilized sand dunes. You'll be coming in I-80 a pressume and end up in Denver first. Coors in Golden offers a free tour with samples and is worth the visit. Make sure you go to Garden of the Gods and Seven Falls when you're in Colorado Springs. Royal Gorge is also cool, but it's to the south of Springs near Canon City. I've never been up Pikes Peak, but I hear it's really neat. Manitou Springs also has Cave of the Winds and the Manitou Cliff Dwellings. If you're really feeling adventurous check out May's Bug museum on High 115 in Colorado springs. It has the world's largest scrab beetle outside. Make sure you stay hydrated on your visit since the altitude bothers a lot of visitors. Have your car fully tuned since the high altitude bothers vehicles as well. Also... learn some meditative breathing so you don't get too irratated with Colorado Springs drivers. They are some of the worst in the world. Academy Blvd has an accident every 7 seconds or so. Source(s): I live in Pueblo.. we don't have too much of interest around here besides the Arkansas and some fossils at the reservoir. Other Travel Tips It's pretty nice. Pikes Peak is awesome. Garden of the Gods is nice, too, plus it's free. Highway 24 gives you a nice view of the mountains. There are a lot of things to see in Colorado Springs. The US Olympic Committee Headquarters is there. Air Force Academy. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. The Broadmoor is very cool. Downtown has a nice Irish Pub called Jack Quinn's that is pretty famous. It's also close to Denver and the mountains, so it's centrally located. Yes, Colorado springs is a pretty cool place. i'd recommend going to Pueblo (sp?) it's a native american thing thats pretty cool. also, the "garden of the gods" is beautiful. CAR ADVICE: GET YOUR BRAKES CHECKED!!! Pike's Peak is very hard on brakes! Colorado Springs is nice. If you have the time, follow CO 115 to US 50 our to Poncha Springs - breaktaking views! yes it is very beautiful. I used to live in Colorado Springs, Boulder and Denver. All 3 are really great places to visit. When in Colorado Springs, visit a small tourist community by C.S called Manitu Springs. I live in the dust bowl bible belt of ugly Lubbock, Texas. I miss Colorado state and the people very much. All of Colorado is worth seeing the best part is the mountains. Colorado Springs is pretty cool I don't know about Boulder. |
