No, to my knowledge it is not a law in Colorado to do this. Colorado has a history of adopting restrictive laws later than other states, perhaps in spirit with the West's traditional libertarian leanings. The law which seems like it would cover this if it were in fact a law, 42-4-227, does not mention anything about a requirement like this (see link below). i know that's a law in alabama, but i don't think it's heavily taught or enforced. i think it's more common sence than anything...
yes. this comeing from a truckdriver, it's a safety issue.
It IS NOT a law in Colorado, but it IS a good idea, for safety reasons.
