Do you have fire flies/lightning bugs in CO? |
Travel Info If so, what area do you live in to have them? Travel Tips I've been in and around and camped just about everywhere in this great state and I can tell you fireflies are few and far between in this neck of the woods. I don't know if it's the altitude or what, but there just aren't that many of them here. Sorry! Source(s): Genuine Colorado Native and I don't plan on leaving...ever!! Other Travel Tips A few, but not very many. Not at all like the Midwest. It's too dry and high. sorry , no lightning bugs No "lightning bugs" in CO! When I lived in Virginia, you would see fields just carpeted with them - so cool! Have you ever squished the fluid out of them and smeared it on your face in the dark? Hilarious! According to the Firefly Files, most species of the insect are found in warm, humid areas of the world. In the United States, flashing fireflies are usually found east of Kansas. Sightings in the western United States are extremely rare. http://iris.biosci.ohio-state.edu/projec... I've seen them around Sawhill Ponds near Boulder and when I was a kid in Pueblo we'd see them at the drive in theatre but they're not very common at all. |
