Where to stay in Denver - is Cherry Creek a good area ? |
Travel Info I plan to visit Denver in Oct, thinking about staying in Cherry Creek - Aurora area. Is this a good area to stay, if not, any suggestion where ? (prefer outside of down town area) and any suggestion where to eat (no preference) ?. Thanks Travel Tips at cherry creek you have to pay for the site to camp at, plus $7 for parking...and they give you a ticket for parking that is valid until the next day at noon. but i think cherry creek is the cheapest and its the only place that has a beach (reservoire) thats really clean and a bunch of trails and picnic areas. just plan in advance because if you go on a weekend, theyll be completely booked up. you can go to the 16th street mall for food and if you like bars, they have coyote ugly. 16th street mall is a little ways from cherry creek. a lot of stuff in denver is off of colfax Others I sure hope this helps: http://www.denverrealestatesource.com/ar... get ready for the wild west and buffalo rodeos:) very good area for the denver area..i went to cherry creek high school many moons ago and revisited about 2 yrs ago.... simply put.... Thats were the rich folks live :) wolfe Personally, I would reconsider downtown. In Denver it's pretty nice, and most of the city's attractions are there, like the new Art Museum, the 16th Street Mall, and many good restaurants. Aurora is a pretty blah suburb, not much there, not very pretty. If you need to save money, the western suburbs would be a better choice, in between Denver and the mountains. Golden is one charming idea, although it's a long way from downtown, as is Aurora/Cherry Creek State Park. Since you hyphenated Cherry Creek and Aurora, I assume you meant near Cherry Creek State Park near Aurora, not the Cherry Creek shopping district in Denver, which is what the person above is talking about ("where the rich people live"). The shopping district is just that, and I can't see why you'd want to stay there instead of downtown, unless shopping is a major attraction for you. There are a lot of good restaurants there. www.tripadvisor.com has a lot of seemingly authentic customer reviews of places to stay. cherry creek, like the person above said, is kind of the ritzy part of town, shopping and stuff. The cherry creek reservoir is for camping. One is a city suburb area and one is a recreational area. aurora is an OK area. The person that said stay on the west side is a good idea, in Denver or the west side. good luck. The JW Marriott is right in the middle of Cherry Creek shopping district. Very cool place. Pricey though. |
