Greyhound gets you there in 16 hours for $99 bucks with many stops along the way. Once you get to El Paso, you can call the Fort Bliss Inn (I am assuming your mom is at Bliss), and they have a free shuttle that can pick you up at the terminal. The number there is (915)565-7777. There is also Amtrak, but it goes way out of the way and is not worth it in my opinion.
