Travel Tips
The two best school districts are probably Jefferson County, and Cherry Creek. Cherry Creek is pretty expensive, however (John Elway's son goes to Cherry Creek High School).

Highlands Ranch is also a very nice neighborhood, but I don't know much about the schools there. They also tend to be a little too pricey.

My personal recommendation would be to go with Jefferson County, especially the Southwest side of town. While this is where Columbine High School is, even Columbine is an excellent high school (you can get two really bad kids anywhere, unfortunately). I actually graduated from Columbine several years before the shootings. I feel that you will find very nice, yet affordable housing in that area with good schools.

If you can afford a home in a good neighborhood that feeds into Cherry Creek High School, you won't find better schools. If that is out of your pricerange, however, I would look at homes that feed into Columbine, Chatfield, Dakota Ridge, and Green Mountain High Schools. I think you will be more than satisfied with the schools and with the communities.

I would avoid Denver and Aurora public schools at all costs.

I attended school in Denver, Jefferson, Adams, and Boulder counties. My kids attended school in Denver and Arapahoe County. My daughter-in-law taught in Denver, Jefferson, and Adams counties. I believe you鈥檒l find good schools throughout the Denver Metro Region.

The only reason I can think to single out the Denver and Aurora schools is that the metropolitan area鈥檚 small African-American population is primarily located in those two cities. I think you鈥檒l find the Denver and Aurora public schools as good as any.
