Is fort collins, co. on the eastern slope or the western slope? thinking of moving there....too cold??? |
Travel Info i've heard people say that living on the 'eastern slope' in colorado is cold, long winters, very depressing. ...anyone else heard this? thinking of moving to fort collins, co. in a year or so Travel Tips Its on the east as the others have said. Its about 2 hours north of Denver and very close to the Wyoming border. All the stories you hear about winter weather are usually in the mountains or out on the plains. The front range is beautiful and you'll be surprised how warm it really is. Lots of sunshine and the stroms move out quick. It can be 60 in January and 70s all the way into November. There is no such thing as a long winter here. It can snow until May but that is sandwiched in by many many days of sunshine and warm temps. People golf in January and February. Its not depressing at all, the sun shines all the time. Plus the mountains are gorgeous to look at. Others I live here. It's on the eastern side of the rockies...there are over 300 days of sunshine here. The winters aren't so bad here...I hardly wear my winter jacket. Today it is snowing, but tomorrow it supposed to be 55....70 by Saturday. I live on the eastern slope..We call it the Front Range ...Great weather, mostly mild winters. over 300 days of sunshine a year. not too hot summers. dry, almost never a rainy day. love it here. We have cold snaps every now and then, but the sun is usually shining. Sometimes we barely have winter at all! It's crazy!!! I've lived close to there my entire life! |
