If renting in Denver what neighborhoods should I stay away from? |
Travel Info If renting in Denver what neighborhoods should I stay away from? Travel Tips Stay south and west of town. Specifially I wouldn't live in Commerce City, Thornton, or Aurora. Although the last 2 are very large parts of town and will have a lot of different types of housing available. I jsut think its too far out of town and have some bad parts. Lakewood, Arvada, Broomfeild, Littleton, and Highlands Ranch are your best bets in my opinion. Others most parts are going to be ok my only suggestions are stay away from Five Points and also Colfax Street (unless you are prostitute, then you would feel right at home) Don't even drive through Montbello. The new areas of Commerce City are very nice as they've recently annexed more land near Brighton and they're building north. I don't think there are too many rentals there though. South Aurora is okay as are the newer parts of Thornton. West Denver near Federal Blvd isn't the place to be, especially during Cinco de Mayo. You should be able to drive through a neighborhood you're thinking about renting in and tell if you want to live there or not. The other thing is, the lower the rent, the worse the neighborhood...generally speaking. People make the neighborhoods, neighborhoods don't make people. Doesn't matter, If you are nice and clean, you will improve where ever you choose. Was born in 5 points, raised there... is animator, artist, musician, and Home Health Nurse. Made me stronger, if anything. I would stay away from Aurora, Commerce City and the 5 points area. I'm sure there are nice streets in these sections, but in general, I would stay away. |
